¡Buenas Tardes!

So I have had to come back to reality, classes started on Monday.  The good thing is that we do not have classes on Fridays which means that getting up at 7:30am on a daily basis has a pay off!! Getting to sleep in 3 days of the week while all of my friends are getting up early on Friday as well to go to class, or for most of the program it gives them 3 nights to party and get completely smashed and 1 to recover before starting all over again.  I am in love with my classes so far though so that is a good thing.  I have 3 classes for which I will get a total of 4 grades...all of which will not count for anything except allowing me credit for classes making it so I will not have to take them later on!! This means I can get anything from a B- up and I will have nothing to worry about as far as my GPA is concerned.

My 3 classes are a grammar/composition class, a Spanish sociology class, and a Spanish literature class all of which are of course taught in Spanish with no English what so ever unless it is needed to define a vocabulary word that someone does not know.  My professor for grammar and composition is very easy on the eyes and knows that almost everyone in the class thinks he is "muy mono."  That class is basically re-teaching everything that we all learned in 101, 102, 201, and 202 over again.  It's ok though because we all forgot everything over the summer anyways.  My sociology class is about the violence, women, gender identities, immigration, and the young people in Spain.  I am very excited for this class.  I feel as if sociology probably should have been my major not French and Spanish but oh well.  The professor of the class has already taught us so much about the culture of this beautiful country already.  My literature professor said that Julie and I were "pobrecitas" because we have Rafa (grammar) as a profe but I think that she is just joking around.  None of the professors at CIEE Alicante Study Center are over a max of about 40 years.  It's so cool to have such young professors looking after us and teaching us about the culture that we are slowly immersing ourselves into.

I have been to the beach, Altea, Guadalest, el Castillo, la Bodega de Santa Margarita, and the University (obviously) now and I cannot pic a favorite because they are all amazing and beautiful but I think if I had to pick a favorite it would be el Castillo because it has breathtaking views that you can NEVER get sick of I mean NEVER.  I have already been up to the top twice and I cannot wait to take my mommy when she comes to visit in a little over 2 weeks!

I joined the gym at the university today.  I swam for an hour which I plan to do every other day in alternation with running/biking and lifting weights.  That is if I can figure out where the machines for such things are.  I shall explore tomorrow when I go to do my working out.  I am going to be in amazing shape when I come home and when I go to France.  I cannot wait for next summer when I lifeguard because I will actually be skinny!

Miss you all!!! More spam from Spain soon.
