Sun, Beach, and Class!?!?

Life seems to be on fast forward.  It was only 2 weeks ago that we came back from Spring Break yet it seems like it has been way longer.  Time is going faster and faster just like a ball down a hill.  Before I know it these 35 days will have passed and I will be getting on a plane to come home.  I'm not ready for things to end yet I am ready to see everyone back home.

Today we went to Saint-Tropez.  It's a gorgeous city just like everywhere else on the Cote d'Azur seems to be.  It didn't really seem that different from Cannes other than it actually has history.  We were supposed to go on a boat tour but it was too windy and wavy on the water to allow us to do that.  We got to see a medival village nearby instead.  It was fun.  The way there we took the sea route which gave us tons of gorgeous views of the sea as well as the different cliffs and such.  It was wonderful.

Yesterday we went to Grasse.  It's only about half an hour from Cannes but it is a completely different kind of city.  It is the world capital of perfume and as such...the afternoon was all about learning about the history of perfume and how it's made.  It's actually a very complicated process and creating a new perfume can take years.  There are only 50 "noses" in the world.  A "nose" is someone who is trained in creating the perfect scent for a new perfume.  We got to create our own perfume base which was fun but it's a little alcohol smelling for most of us so it will probably just sit on a shelf like so many other things do.

Last weekend we went on our 2 day trip to Provence during which we visited: Arles, Avignon, Les Vaucluses de something or other and a few other places.  It was a great trip though a lot of us agreed we would have like another day to see things so it wasn't as rushed.  In Arles we got to see a bunch of ruins left over from when the Romans ruled France.  We didn't get to see the aqueducts because our director figured all of us had already seen them...this was a great disappointment but oh well...gives me a reason to come back someday.  In Avignon we had an amazing dinner at the hotel's restaurant.  Then we got to see the Pont d'Avignon which is the world famous unfinished bridge with the song about it.  We also got to see the Palais du Pape where the Pope's originally lived before the Vatican was formed.

Other than these exciting adventures there has been nothing very exciting except for lots and lots of time being spent in the sun and on the beach.  Jesse and I are headed to Switzerland this weekend so that should be a good time and then it's time for the film festival to commence.  I have also turned 21 which is exciting...I guess.  I will try to keep this updated now!!
