So I know that this is about a month overdue but since I figure I talk to most of the people who read this blog on a regular basis it is probably ok and those that I don't my mother or grandmother probably do.
So the start of the adventure was a taxi ride to the train station in Cannes, a train ride to Nice, a bus ride to the airport and then 2 flights one to London-Heathrow and the other to Glasgow Scotland where we spent the first 3 nights of our trip. Our first day we went shopping on the main shopping street and ate dinner at an authentic Spanish restaurant. It truly made me wish I was back in Alicante with my madre.
The next day, we went on the sightseeing bus which is hop on hop off but since we didn't get going until later in the day we decided to not get off and just see the town. We got done with all of that around 4pm and did a bit of walking around before going back to the hostel to rest up before getting dinner. We ended up meeting lots of very nice girls in our room that night and went out with them for a drink. We didn't stay out very late since we had to catch a flight very early the next morning.
The next stage of the trip was Cardiff, Wales...the homeland. We spent 2 nights and 2 days here. It was frustrating because our hotel was a 45 minute bus ride from the city but we did get to sleep later to be able to get to the airport on the day of our departure. We got to see a reconstructed medieval village and a castle that dates back to much longer than I have ever seen before...besides in Alicante. It was a great couple days because we allowed ourselves to just be lazy and get done what we could since we had to spend so much time dependent on the buses.
Next up was Edinburgh, Scotland. Here we had 2 days and one night during which we crammed in as much as we possibly could. We got a 2 day pass on the sight seeing bus and got to see a ton of stuff. We went to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Yacht, and the Queen's residence when she is in Scotland Holyrodhouse. It was a crazy busy 48 hours but totally worth it. The long wait in the airport because we ended up with a delay was not however since it was already going to be a late night as is.
The last stop on our tour of the UK was Galway, Ireland. Here we hng out and looked around the town for the first day and then the second day we went on a bus tour during which we got to see the Cliffs of Mohrer. The tour guide reminded me a lot of Mr. Paukert, my 7th grade math teacher. We took a train to Dublin on the last day and took our time just walking through the city before catching our flight back to Glasgow to fly home to Nice.
We spent the night in Glasgow that night as we didnt have a flight until the next day. We spent the night just relaxing and walking around the city again. The next morning we let ourselves sleep in a bit and then caught the bus back to the airport to take our flight to London City airport where we would have 8 hours to transfer to London-Heathrow for our flight to Nice. It was a very long day of waiting in airports but when we got to the college at around 1 am it didn't matter anymore because we had our own beds and showers.
Overall it was a wonderful 10 days that neither of us will ever forget.
More confessions coming soon.
