I have been home from school now for 6 weeks today and time has just flown by. My little sister graduated from high school which seems like it should not have happened. When did we get so old? There is no way that my little brother who was born when I was in kindergarten is almost 15 years old and 5'11.5" already. I cleaned for the first 2 weeks of my summer to get ready for the guests and grad party that went with this momentous occasion. The next week was spent by the 3 women of the household trying to recover from the weeks events. Since the boys still had school, it was easy for us to be able to just sit around and watch chick flicks without any complaint.
This was the last year that Sandburg Middle School will ever be in existence so the day before Tori's graduation we took Grandma and Grandpa Dahl to look at the school where dad had been teaching for just short of 20 years. Then on Wednesday, the last day of school, Duncan got the honor of being the last Sandburg Saber so mom, tori and I went over to Sandburg to take pictures of all the last day events. We also helped with the passing out of dilly bars to the students.
In the next few weeks I hung out with friends and went to Duncan's baseball games but not much else. I finished a few scrapbooks but still have many more to make and have not even touched the shirts that Amy gave me to make into a quilt for her since I only have about half of them. Last friday, one of mom's P.E.O. sister's needed help with making corsages and buttonieres for her daughter's wedding which was the next day so mom and I went over to help them taking my fridge as they would probably not have room in theirs for the 30 floral arrangements that we put together. This took me back to floral design class senior year and how much I enjoyed it. I am now thinking about looking into seeing if there is somewhere that I could get a masters degree in event planning, floral design, and photography so that I might open up my own event planning service which focuses on weddings. All I would have to do is find someone who could make cakes for these weddings and we would be a completely self sufficient company.
The best friend that I talked about in my last post and I have hung out 2 times in the last 6 weeks and it doesn't seem like that number will be going up any time soon. He and I have yet to be able to sit down and talk about anything yet and he seems to be avoiding me so that this does not happen at all. I am very frustrated by this and upset because at the very least I want to still be good friends with him when he leaves and be able to write to him and skype and such. I don't necessarily want to be "in a relationship" with him as it would say on my facebook but to be on good terms with an understanding between us that if we are both in a place where we are still interested and available when we are both back in Anoka that we would take the chance to see what's there. I hope to get the chance to do that in the next 2 months as I leave for Spain in just 2 months from today.
The fourth of July is this coming Sunday which means that we will be celebrating here at our house with Grandma and Grandpa Pearson, Uncle Bob, and Tina not only the fourth but also all of our birthdays because it has become a tradition to celebrate birthdays in the summer together than each on their own day as we are not always together in order to celebrate on or even near the date. This will become more and more true in the years to come as Tori goes off to college and I to Europe and elsewhere.
I will be trying to write more regularly so as to get in the habit of writing at least once a week which will allow wonderful updates while I am in Spain in the fall. Until then however...
May God bless you and keep you.
