It has been 1 week since I arrived in Europe for my second semester abroad during the 2010 - 2011 school year and it's hard to believe that a week has really gone by. So much can happen in a week yet so little can happen as well.
This week has been frustrating and challenging as well as some of the most fun I have ever had. We started off the week by arriving in London at like 7am and then staying up until 10pm when we had already been up for almost a full day and none of us had slept on the plane. We somehow were able to get all of our things we wanted to do done though. That is the amazingness that is tourists fighting jet-lag as hard as they can.
We then sat in the airport starting at about 7am the next morning so that we could catch a 9:55am flight that was postponed until about 11am which means that we sat in the airport for almost 4 hours with nothing to do. We found some free internet and used that as long as we could get it to work which wasn't very long sadly.
We arrived in Nice and got to the College just in time to be able to move in all of our stuff and take a quick walk on the boardwalk before having a welcome dinner in the cafeteria. We then went back to our room and hung out and tried to get in contact with people from home to let them know we were safe.
Then the rest of the weekend we spent doing things for orientation and getting to know the school. Monday we took the evaluation test and went on a walking tour of the city. We got to know the city fairly well that night and I now can get myself around no problem...not really a surprise since I generally can do that anyway.
Tuesday was the start of classes. I am in a class lower than expected but that is only for the first month and then I should be moving up...or at least that is what everyone has been saying to me. The whole semester in Spain with no French thing kind of messed me up. Oh well I will have to deal the best I can. I love my languages and that is it for now.
Classes have been going well. They start at 9am and run until noon with a fifteen minute break in the middle. My professor is nice he reminds me a lot of Professor Rollet from Carthage but that's ok because I like him a lot. He jokes with us which is nice since I was given the impression that European professors are generally very formal and professional in the classroom. We are given very little homework which is very nice as well.
We will have one day of class left this week tomorrow before we head to Monaco on Saturday!! The weather is gorgeous and the sun is almost always shining. I have posted many pictures to facebook already and plan to do a picture blog on Sunday so that those without facebook might enjoy the sights as well.
More confessions to come!
